We are excited to announce the expansion of our Wildcat high school athletic offerings this spring with the introduction of Boys and Girls Lacrosse! The 2019 inaugural lacrosse season will be the first of many that our student athletes will compete as a sanctioned Wildcat athletic program, and we are thrilled to provide our school community this opportunity!
It is our pleasure to announce the head coaches that will lead our WHS Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse programs:
Jared DeWolf has accepted the Head Varsity Coach position for the Boys’ Lacrosse program. Jared is a familiar face in the district. He has been the Art Teacher at Bayview Elementary for the past 14 years and also coaches the Boys’ JV soccer team in the fall.
Jared’s lacrosse experience dates back to his high school days at Bloomington Jefferson when he was part of the inaugural high school lacrosse season in Minnesota. How fitting that he will now lead us as we begin offering lacrosse as a high school sanctioned activity in Waconia. Jared also played collegiate lacrosse at Minnesota State University – Mankato. Locally, he has been involved with the lacrosse programs offered through Community Education.
Jared resides in Waconia with his wife Trisha, daughter Taylor, and son Grayson. Jared shared that he is, “looking forward to working with the student athletes that will compete during this inaugural season of Wildcat Boys’ Lacrosse”.
Elisabeth Doran has been named the Girls’ Lacrosse Head Varsity Coach for the Wildcats.
Elisabeth is originally from New Jersey but spent most of her life in Chaska, MN. She was a founding member of the Chaska High School women’s lacrosse team in 2001. Elisabeth competed all four years in high school, and then four years for the University of Minnesota Duluth. The 2019 season will be Elisabeth’s 9th year coaching women’s high school lacrosse. Out of college, she started as a volunteer coach with the Chaska High School program. The following season she became a JV coach and spent 7 seasons coaching for Chaska. Then, last spring, Elisabeth jumped at the opportunity to coach here in Waconia through our Community Education department.
Elisabeth works in the Waconia School District as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher. Elisabeth stated that, “I am excited to now be able to not only teach in Waconia, but also be a part of the first ever Waconia women’s varsity lacrosse program. I look forward to meeting and working with players, parents and staff to help build an exceptional women’s lacrosse program”.
Congratulations to both Coach DeWolf and Coach Doran on your selection as the first ever Wildcat Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse program Head Coaches!
