Boys Wildcat Tennis · Jeff Bessire Named Boys Tennis Coach

  On behalf of the entire Wildcat Activities Department, we would like to welcome the newest member of our team, Head Boys Tennis Coach, Jeff Bessire! Many of you have probably seen the beginning stages of construction of our new tennis courts happening just to the east of the High School, Coach Bessire is in place to literally build our tennis program, like our courts, from the ground up!

Coach Bessire is finishing up his first year teaching at Bayview, but his 11th year overall teaching physical education. In addition to teaching Phy. Ed, Coach Bessire jumped right in and coached our 8th grade boys basketball team and this spring worked with our middle school students as a member of our track and field coaching staff. You might recognize Mr. Bessire as he has also been coaching FIERCE and track and field the past 5 summers as a part of the Waconia Community Education program, and will be coaching Comm. Ed. tennis this summer with Waconia as well.

Coach Bessire brings a wealth of knowledge and experience playing, coaching and growing the game of tennis. He started playing tennis in 3rd grade as a part of his hometown summer tennis program, and continued playing in middle school and high school. In middle school, he played a mix of singles and doubles, but found his spot on Varsity for 4 years with doubles. Coach Bessire has taught lessons, both group and private, for 15 years and started the PLAY youth tennis program in Prior Lake four years ago while teaching in the Prior Lake district.

Coach Bessire has lived in Cologne for 10 years with his wife, Terri, and his 2 sons Landon (8), and Ryder (6).  Coach states, “I am extremely excited to be a part of the inaugural Waconia Wildcat Tennis program, and working with student athletes to create a strong program with leadership and integrity at its’ core”.
