Wildcats News · Wildcats honor parents, beat Delano, and sign autographs!

On a parents night / youth night double whammy combo, the Wildcats earned a victory over Delano, 64-35. While we didn’t shoot the ball extremely well, we played solid defense, put together a couple of good runs, and got the win down a starter to sickness. When people on the team are down, others have to pick them up, and that’s what we were able to do through strong, balanced performances.
Other stats: Forthcoming, as they are being tabulated by Hudl.
Scoring: Swanson lead with 17, rebounding the ball well and pushing the pace, finishing in traffic, in a great performance as starter. Natalie Meath and Addy Salzer both had 9, hitting some big jumpers and scoring in traffic; Jayda Lenz had 8, hitting a couple of big 3’s; Dani Dykstra had 7, being very physical, sealing expertly, and showing her outside shooting touch; Ava Stier and Sydney Olson both had 5, Allie Zimmer had 4, and Mel Honnold had 2.
Next week is the last week of the regular season, but is also huge for both conference and seeding purposes – we play Hutch at Hutch, in a game they will be very hungry to win, after how we beat them last time, and that game bears section seeding implications as well as conference implications. If we win, we will then have to beat New Prague on senior night to earn a share in the conference title, as they are currently undefeated, and we have one loss.
JV showed a dominant performance, especially on defense, to win 59-21. Kiley Sizzle Sazama had 19, Hallie Roitenberg had 12, and JoJo Machacek was spectacular both passing out of the post with her signature “finger roll” no-looks, some fast break finishes, and was also dominant at the top of the 1-3-1. A great team win!
9th grade lost 23-30. Amber Brueggemeier had 15, but we couldn’t overcome many missed layups, missed shots, and a bit of stagnation on offense.
Everyone on the team MUST HYDRATE, REST, AND DRINK OJ THIS WEEKEND! The sickness is going around again, and people need to avoid germs going into the last week of the season!
