Wildcats News · Wildcats lose OT thriller at Hutch

We fought until the end, but 4 OT turnovers down the stretch, and no timeouts left in a hard-fought game hurt us in the end, as we fell 69-67. We had chances to make shots down the stretch, but we struggled from the outside all game. Still, to get to OT, many contributions were made, and Salzer hit a really tough shot to tie it in regulation.
The video didn’t upload right away, so stats will be forthcoming, but unofficially scoring for the wildcats were Swanson with 26, Zimmer with 10, Salzer with 13, Stier with 9, Olson with 5, Meath with 2, and Honnold with 2.
With the loss, we lost an opportunity to earn part of the conference title for the year, which is disappointing, and was one of our goals. However, we still need to go and beat New Prague, this Friday on Senior Night, to tell ourselves the right story about competing heading into the playoffs in what many are calling the, top-to-bottom, toughest section in MN girls basketball. There are no bad teams in our section, and many have beaten each other at least once, so it’ll be a battle.
The JV wildcats dominated Hutch’s JV 56-26. Really balanced scoring – Nora with 15, Will with 10, Kiley with 8, Morgan with 8. Moved the ball really well, got a lot of stops in the 1-3-1, and it was nice to have Nora back – she provided a major spark!
9th grade also won 57-42, and the energy was much improved and palpable. Amber, Bri, And Tori each had 10 in the W, and Paige was picking pockets until the end of the game. Gotta love the competitiveness!
