Two Waconia Wildcat swimmers, David Sinclair (11th Grade) and Sam Sinclair (10th Grade) will represent the inaugural Waconia High School Boys Swim team by competing in the MSHSL Class AA State Boys Swim Championships!! These outstanding athletes earned their state tournament berths by finishing in the top of a very competitive Section 2AA meet!
David Sinclair finished as the Section Runner up in the 100 Freestyle and in 3rd place in the 50 Free qualifying for State in both events. Sam Sinclair finished in 3rd place in the 200 IM qualifying for state in that event and also finished a strong 6th in the 100 fly!
As a Section 2AA team, the Wildcats finished in 6th place with notable performances by many including; Matthew Krogman earned 16th in the 500 free and Nolan Elg finished 15th in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay (David Sinclair, Nolan Elg, Sam Sinclair, Matthew Krogman) swam their way to a 6th place finish, the 200 free relay (Carson Roehl, Jack Hackler, Nolan Elg, Nathan Sannito) earned 7th and 400 free relay (Krogman, Sinclair, Sannito, Sinclair) finished in 6th place. Awesome job swimmers!!
David and Sam will begin State competition Friday, February 28 at 6pm at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center. The Class AA State Swimming Finals will conclude Saturday, Friday February 29th. Good Luck Wildcats!
