4 30   67

The Wildcats began the season boasting one of the deepest benches in class AAA. In their 67-30 6AAA quarterfinal win over #7 seed Dassel-Cokato the Cats bench proved just how potent it is.
With three varsity regulars sidelined (four if you count Allie Zimmer lost to an ACL in December) several players that spent most of the season playing JV stepped up and helped guide the team to victory. Sarah Cravens poured in 7 points, Hailey Williams had 6, Dani Dykstra contributed 4, and Melissa Honnold had 3 in very important varsity playoff minutes.
Usual suspects Tess Johnson, Natalie Meath, and Ava Stier had 12, 12, and 10 points respectively. Senior captain Courtney Freeberg was an animal on the glass grabbing 12 rebounds.
Waconia held the Chargers to 4 for 27 shooting in the first half and 4 for 29 in the 2nd half. D-C committed 28 turnovers. 10 different players scored for the Wildcats including Carli Cebulla with her first varsity point!
The Wildcats improve to 20 and 7 on the season and they will host #3 seed Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Saturday at 7pm. The Red Knights coasted past Orono 68-44. Mound beat Delano on the other side of the bracket and they will travel to take on #1 seed Cooper.
